We only get a couple of chances to come to the ocean per year. From inland, we have limited knowledge on salt water fishing. I have been on numerous charters in my time also, but mostly up north. We started by paying the minimum of $500 between 2 for a 4 hour arvo fish. Yes, $250 each, expecting a good time. We were taken 10 miniutes out of the bay and into some "good gummy water". Me and my mate caught a heap of spurdogs (9 infact), 4 flat head and 2 whiting for they day. Skipper caught a nice 8kg gummy and his deck hand and son were pulling up some nice flat head.

It became apparent, that despite us forking out $500, the crew were not fishing for the paying customers, instead for themselves. My mate asked if there was a limit on spurdogs (as that was pretty much all we were getting) to which we were told there is no catch/size limit. So given we were fishing poorly we took all we could get. End of the day comes, we were told to gut and fillet our own fish over at the boat ramp. We paid $500 mind you, most charters will fillet them for the customer, because you know, they are paying you for a service. When we got there, there was fisheries officers waiting to check peoples catch. It turns out, you can only have 1 spurdog... 1! They are classified as being a SHARK. We have a potential $450 fine EACH, due to skippers lack of knowledge.

P.S To the skipper, The question I want you to ask yourself, is if you were away and decide to go on a charter, and you fork out that kind of cash, would you be happy with your day? With your catch? Because we worked out we could have bought 77 pieces of flake for our money. (which we did go to a fish co-op in Lorne and bought fish to take home) Not 4 flat head, 2 whiting, and a piece of gumy for $500.

They did bait the hook granted, but on all the charters ive been on they dont just float for 4 hours untill times up to save on fuel. (we spent a good hour and a half fishless)They go out of there way to put you in the good places to catch decent fish and lots of it. Plus they are fishing for you... The paying customer. The guy whom pays you to go out and bring back lots of fish. After they fisheries took our fish for evidence, we were left with 8 flat head tails, 2 whiting, and a piece of gummy, plus a potential $900 fine, all for $500.

It is my first time to fish in the ocean! So excited and catch a big guy! Nice experience! 70$ two hours is worthy!

We are so angry, our holiday to the coast was ruined by this charter, I do not recommend to any one to go on this boat for fishing and find an alternative charter boat because it was a joke of a weekend for us that left us fuming.

It was the absolute best experience for me and the family. Highly recommend to do this trip. We even seen a couple of dolphins as well. It was good to see wildlife in its natural habitat.

Our family went out on the one hour trip to see the seals. It was amazing!! Max the skipper was great and told us lots of information about them. We went to see the dolphins too and even saw some baby dolphins swimming with their mum. Our girls ages 11,9 and 10 months loved this special experience to see these wonderful creatures in their natural habitat. Highly recommended. We will never forget it. Thank you!

We went on a Seal cruise with this crowd and were bitterly disappointed - After paying a whopping $40.00 per person, we were taken out to see the Seals for only about 5 minutes, before the skipper, Max, decided it was time to turn the boat around and head back to the pier. He seemed in a massive rush to get back which was a real shame as it would've been lovely to have a bit longer to watch these beautiful animals at play. Very disappointing....
